Zone Read
The Exit is always on a lower Layer than the Entrance, the correct path has several Slopes/ Ledges down. One Side of the Zone is a Massive Mountain Wall, find the Ledge Side, then follow the downward Slopes.
Prisoner's Gate is a complicated Zone, it is by no means required to learn every Single Layout Variant and its identifiers, unless you are aiming for Sub 3 Hour Campaigns.
Each Zone has two Identifiers, the Direction the Entrance is facing and the Shape of the first Tunnel.
If your Entrance is Facing South-East, always go North-East to find the first Tunnel, then based on the Tunnel shape continue.
- If the Tunnel is curved East, head West afterwards. (South Facing Row 1)
- If the Tunnel is curved West, head East afterwards.(South Facing Row 2)
- If the Tunnel is straigth, check if you can continue Straight, otherwise follow the zone east. (South Facing Row 3)
If your Entrance is Facing North-West, head North to find the Ledge and first Tunel. After the Tunnel check if the Zone continues North, (North-West Facing Row 1) otherwise the 2nd Tunnel is East, like in North-West Facing Row 2.
If your Entrance is Facing North-East, first determine if the Ledge Side is North of the Entrance or South/East of the Entrance.
-
If the Ledge is South and the Tunnel is also South, then turn East after the Tunnel. (North-East Row 1)
-
If the Ledge is South and the Tunnel is facing East. The Exit can either be north or south afterwards. Walk East and if the Zone does not open south, head North. Like in North-East Row 2
-
Otherwise follow Zone South like in North-East Row 3.
-
If the Ledge is North and the Tunnel is curving East, head West afterwards
-
If the Ledge is North and the Tunnel is straight, first check the top East Corner of the Zone after the Tunnel, if no 2nd Tunnel is there, check the bottom east Corner and follow the Zone.
Ignore the Blue Arrows on the Immages, I was originaly firmly believing the Waypoint Position in corelation to the first Tunnel was determining the Direction afterwards.
Vaal Zone Traps
To not fall for fake Tunnles leading to Vaal Zones, during a Tunnel the zone is always slightly angled Downwards. If the Tunnel is even, you are heading for a Vaal Zone. The Vaal Zones are not breaking the Layout Rules, just creating Dead Ends leading away from the Zone after the first Tunnel.
